I caught myself again
thinking about what was before
bringing a smile
to an otherwise unhappy afternoon.

As I sit by the phone
I glanced back to the days
of not so long ago
of how we came to be.

The mindless chatter, the happy stories,
the late night whispers, the songs with glee.
Those which made us closer
than we'd ever imagined.

Yet as fate found its way
we found each other,
knowing the person
behind the lovely voice.

As we grew closer
something special followed
a feeling that was born
which I thought would last.

From then on we were together
not losing sight of what we felt
for it is forever
we'll love till the end.

Dreams of the future
together we will spend
a lifetime of love
in our own world of happiness.

But fate took a twisted turn
and you left me all alone
wondering how to spend my life
without you by my side.

As I hold on to our dreams
years since that fateful day
firmly believing I would rather spend my life alone
or with you and not any other.

For you are truly different
from all others past,
no other person
can match the love you gave.

I caught myself again
dropping another tear
for until you come back
forever I'll be waiting.

another heartbroken poem i wrote during my earlier twenties.  i seldom write happy poems for that period in time i was still undergoing a recovery period that many don't know of.  anyways, i look back at this and share it to everyone who may feel the same way.  enjoy!  🙂
