31-on-31 #9: blanked out

he stared blankly at the monitor, his chin resting on his cupped hand.  he tried to fill his mind with things he needed to say, but was repeatedly blanked for some reason every time an idea would come up.  he leaned back on his seat and looked around.  silence was with him at that time, and upon looking around, it looked like it was going to be that way for a while.  he ran both his hands thorugh his hair, stopping as they reached the back, and clasped them as his head rested on both his hands.  he stared up, still nothing.  suddenly, the sound of pouring rain echoed thorugh the room.  it was the first time it had rained for months.  he heaved a small sigh of relief, for the humidity in the room would go down a bit as the rain cooled down the warm afternoon.  he stood up and walked towards the screen door, stretching as he goes.  he stared outside as children from across the street started to play in the rain, a welcome respite from the searing heat felt in the afternoons.  he then wandered back into his childhood years, as he did the same once the first fall of rain would hit towards summer's end.  back to where problems were non-existent, and what mattered was having fun with friends.  they would play all sorts of games in the rain–tag and hide-and-seek to name a few–and would even run sprints to see who's faster running in the rain.  then suddenly, the rain stopped.  the faces of the children outside turned from glee to sadness as they walked home as his walk down memory lane ended abruptly too.  frustrated, he went back to his PC, shut it down, then went to his room to finally get some sleep.
